Harvester is seeking a Director of Children's Ministry

The Director of Children’s Ministry is the leader and the “face” of the ministry with the congregation and the community and ministers to children, families and volunteers with a focus on Harvester’s Vision of inviting people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. 


The Director of Children's Ministry reports directly to the Pastor of Family Ministries and is under the authority of the Staff Parish Relations Committee. 

The responsibilities of this position include:

 Select curriculum, recruit, equip, empower and oversee volunteers for children's ministry programs including: 


  • Sunday School and Children’s Church (Pre-K through middle school) 
  • Nursery during weekend worship services
  • Special Services (e.g. Holy Week, Christmas, etc.)
  • Mid Week Children's Program (not currently offered)
  • Special events (Community Egg Hunt, VBS, Playtime in the Patch, Christmas Camp)


 

Provide regular and effective communication regarding the ministry with parents/congregation/community using the children's information board in the hall, take home letters, church website, worship service announcements, worship service bulletins, the WOW, the “Laker” etc .


Continues personal spiritual growth, maintain high energy and personal integrity, have good time management skills and interpersonal skills, maintain good relations with all volunteers.


Maintains accurate attendance logs, coordinate the children’s calendar with the church calendar, select, acquire, and maintain supplies for all children’s ministry programs and events.


Select, acquire, and maintain nursery and classroom supplies for all children's ministry programs and events.


Oversee nursery staff/ classroom/ facilities. This includes preparation, set-up, decoration, and clean up following children's ministry use.


Oversee Harvester UMC's compliance with Child Protection Policy as required by the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. This will be done in conjunction with the Director of Children’s Ministry. This includes: obtaining staff and volunteer applications, processing background checks, maintaining background records and providing Child Protection Policy training to staff and volunteers.


Work as a team member by attending weekly staff meetings, monthly Church Council meetings, and Children's Ministry Team meetings.


Work in cooperation with other church ministries regarding current programming and to plan future ministry space, programs, and outreach (e.g. additional worship services, preschool ministry, building expansion, etc.).


Establish and manage Children's Ministry budget in cooperation with the Finance Team, Church Council, and Pastor of Family Ministries.

The Director of Youth Ministry is the leader and the “face” of the ministry with the congregation and the community and ministers to youth, families, and volunteers with a focus on Harvester’s Vision of inviting people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.


The Director of Youth Ministry reports directly to the Senior Pastor and is under the authority of the Staff Parish Relations Committee. 

The responsibilities of this position include:

Select curriculum, recruit, equip, empower and oversee volunteers for youth ministry programs including:

  

  • Sunday School, Bible Studies, and Youth group
  • Special Services (e.g. Easter Sunrise Service, Christmas, Youth Sunday, etc.)
  • Mid-Week Youth Program (not currently offered)
  • Special events (Camps, Mission Trips, Festivals, etc.)

  

Provide regular and effective communication regarding the ministry with parents/ congregation/ community using the youth information board in the hall, take home letters, church website, worship service announcements, worship service bulletins, the WOW, the “Laker” etc.
